After a wonderful 5 days in Limbe, it was time to go back to Yaoundé for my flight back to London. We got up early on Monday the 20th and it was raining cats and dogs. We waited until it slowed down, but by then we had missed the only direct bus to Yaoundé, so we had to go via Doula. It wasn't too bad except for the fact that I had come down with a cold and wasn't feeling too well.
We arrived in Yaoundé and stayed in the Keile hotel again. They remembered us and gave us the same room. That night we ate at a restaurant and went to bed.
Tuesday morning, we checked out of the hotel and went to Adamou's house to leave our bags. His house girl fixed breakfast for us and then we went out with Adamou.
We looked at prices for plane tickets for Saidou to visit the US. The prices are about the same as I found in the US. Then we went to the market where Adamou works. Here I met Issa Bouba who gave me some leather sandals and wallets.
I wanted to go to the Artisanaut so Saidou went with me, but he hated it. People would not leave us alone. I bought the bell with the brass handle and we left.

In the afternoon, we went to the Muslim quarter and found Bakary and had soya with him and a couple of his friends. He went to the airport with us to see me off. Although he can't speak English at all, he was able to let me know that he appreciated my visit to Cameroon and that I was welcome there.
The flight back to London was a bit better than the one coming. The layover in Nairobi was several hours, but by luck, a businessman Saidou had introduced me to in Yaoundé got me into the first class lounge and he showed me how to use the Euro adapter for my laptop, so the time passed quickly. Thanks to El Hadji Ndjidda for this.
Thanks to Saidou and everyone in Cameroon for making my time there very special. It is a holiday I will never forget. |
