Where we stayed. |
Thursday night we stayed at the hotel and ate at the restaurant there. It was kinda expensive, but good. I had Cravettes or Shrimp. As we ate, we watched the tv show Saidou likes. It's an evening soap from the Philippines called "Promise".
On Friday we went to DownBeach, and area near where the boats come in with the fresh fish. We ate lunch at a restaurant and then found a friend of Saidou's from Paul's Computer Institute.
That night we went back to DownBeach to "where de burn de fish" - an area by the water where ladies cook fresh fish on open grills. We really enjoyed our meal, but the lady who cooked decided to keep my change. It wasn't but 50cfa, but it still made me mad. We went back again on Sunday night but weren't going to order from the same lady. I had Saidou go and order the fish, because the price would have been double if I had ordered it. He called me over to look at his selection and when I left, the lady's sister said to add 1000cfa because he's with "White Man". Saidou told her no way and ordered from another lady. Our fish came, and the first lady also brought the original fish Saidou had selected. She was upset when she realized that we weren't going for her trick.
There was a man there who came from table to table providing entertainment. He had a remote control which he would point at himself as he sang. Then after singing, he did a newscast in English as if he was a television. Very funny! |
